SEE-LUER™ CVC CAP

A NEW IDEA FOR CATHETER PATIENTS

Compared to other vascular access, Central Venous Catheters (CVCs) create a higher risk of infection in patients who are on hemodialysis (HD).  Long-term CVCs pose a sepsis risk even after the exit site has healed. Infections can occur when care givers touch the CVC limbs and open ends.  Also, dried blood left on the threads of the CVC limbs raise the risk of infection.

Current practice is to disinfect the catheter with caps in place before using the CVC for an HD treatment. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Guideline “Scrub the Hub”, recommend to remove each cap and disinfect the threads and lumen as part of a two-step cleansing. This procedure the CVC tip to be open to the air, which raises the risk of contamination.

See-Luer™ CVC Cap is designed to permit full access to catheter limb threads for disinfection while occluding the high-risk inner lumen of the CVC.

When it is not retracted for disinfection, it acts like a typical CVC cap, occluding the threads and inner lumen.

See-Luer™ CVC Cap advantages:
